Cambridge Sword Fencers Earn GB Pathway Places and International Selection

Cambridge Sword is celebrating a fantastic start to the new fencing season, with three of its young fencers progressing through the Great Britain Pathway Programme and one earning selection to represent Great Britain on the international stage.

Daniel Shenker has been selected for the GBR Pathway Programme, joining fellow Cambridge Sword fencers Ethan Smith (Junior) and Rose Raju (Cadet), who are entering their second year on the programme.

Run by British Fencing, the GBR Pathway identifies fencers with the aspiration and potential to progress towards elite international competition. The programme develops not only fencing performance, but the skills, knowledge and behaviours young athletes need to succeed both on and off the piste.

All three Cambridge Sword fencers will attend the upcoming GBR Pathway training camp in Nottingham on 29–30 August.

There is further international success for the club, with Rose Raju selected for Great Britain at the first European Fencing Confederation (EFC) Cadet event of the season in Samorin, Slovakia, from 16–18 October.

Rose achieved Top 16 selection for both the individual and team events, earning her place through strong performances at key competitions alongside her commitment to training and development with the Cambridge Sword coaching team.

She has confirmed her place and will proudly represent both Great Britain and Cambridge Sword on the international stage.
